LG UltraGear 49GR85DC-B: New 49-inch curved gaming monitor showcased with 240 Hz refresh rate
LG has announced the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B, an ultra-wide gaming monitor that has a 32:9 aspect ratio. For some reason, LG has not confirmed the monitor’s curvature. As its name suggests, the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B is a 49-inch monitor. However, it relies on a VA panel, rather than IPS or OLED equivalents like many UltraGear gaming monitors. LG has not confirmed pricing details yet, but we doubt that the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B will cost as much as the UltraGear 48GQ900, which retails for US$1,499.99.
According to the company, the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B operates natively at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels with 1 ms response times (GtG), a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 2,500:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, the monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, which should correlate with 1,000 nits peak brightness. However, LG claims that the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B delivers up to 450 nits and at least 350 nits.
Elsewhere, LG promises 95% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support and an adjustable stand. Moreover, the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B has two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a USB Type-B port. Please see LG’s website for more details. Unfortunately, the company has not confirmed when the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B will be available yet, either.
