The Intel Core i9-12900TE, released in January 2022, is a desktop processor featuring 16 cores and priced at. It belongs to the Core i9 series and utilizes the Alder Lake-S architecture with Socket 1700. With Intel Hyper-Threading technology, the P-Cores’ core-count effectively doubles to 24 threads. This processor comes with 30 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base frequency of 1100 MHz, with the ability to boost up to 4.8 GHz depending on the workload. Manufactured on a 10 nm production process by Intel, the transistor count remains undisclosed. The unlocked multiplier on the Core i9-12900TE allows for easy overclocking adjustments, enabling users to set their desired overclocking frequency effortlessly.
The Core i9-12900TE has a low energy consumption with a TDP of 35 W. It is compatible with DDR4 and DDR5 memory through a dual-channel interface. To communicate with other system components, the Core i9-12900TE utilizes a PCI-Express Gen 5 connection. Additionally, this processor is equipped with the UHD Graphics 770 integrated graphics solution.
Hardware virtualization is available on the Core i9-12900TE, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Additionally, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, so that guest virtual machines may directly use host hardware. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) will run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications. Besides AVX, Intel is including the newer AVX2 standard, too, but not AVX-512.
