Screen size class, as specified by the manufacturer. This is often the rounded value of the actual diagonal size in inches.

The approximate diagonal size of the screen. If the manufacturer does not provide this information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen.

Approximate screen width. If the manufacturer does not provide this information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

Approximate screen height. If the manufacturer does not provide this information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

Matrix manufacturer’s name.

There are various panel manufacturing technologies. Each has its own specific characteristics—viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production costs, etc. Image quality depends directly on the type of panel used in the display.

The most widely used matrices are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the pixel’s RGB components. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively.

Frame Rate Control (FRC) is a method that allows pixels to display more shades of color. By rapidly switching between different shades of color, it creates the illusion of a new, intermediate color. For example, a standard 6-bit matrix displays 262,200 colors, but by using FRC, it can display 16.7 million colors, which is typical for 8-bit matrices. There are several different FRC algorithms.

The maximum number of colors that the screen is capable of reproducing depends on the type of matrix in use and technologies to increase the number of apparent colors such as FRC.

The ratio between the horizontal and vertical sides of the screen. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9, and 16:10.

Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical sides of the screen. A higher resolution allows for a more detailed and higher-quality image.

Pixel size indicates the distance between the centers of two neighboring pixels. On displays with a native resolution (such as TFTs), the distance between pixels depends on the screen’s resolution and size.

Information about the number of pixels per unit of length. As screen size decreases and resolution increases, pixel density increases.

sRGB is a color space, jointly developed by Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft in 1996. It is used in various devices such as printers, monitors, televisions, cameras, etc. The sRGB color space covers approximately 72% of the NTSC color space.

DCI-P3 is a color space, introduced in 2007 by SMPTE. It is used in digital cinema and has a much wider gamut than sRGB.

Static contrast shows the relationship between the brightest and darkest colors that the screen can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene.

HDR increases contrast (peak brightness and lower black levels) and the color palette to achieve greater detail throughout the image – from the darkest to the lightest parts, helping to achieve a more realistic picture.
